We Meet Your Growing Needs

Sustainability

Our farmers don’t just grow cotton for a living; it’s a part of their DNA – a passion to cloth and comfort the world responsibly. They have a long track record of adopting cotton production techniques that are founded in scientific research and scaled through technological investment. They remain on a path of continual improvement that helps conserve natural resources and safeguard the environment that they not only count on for their livelihoods but also share with their families and neighbors.

Staplcotn Sustainable Agriculture

Common Practices

Common practices on Staplcotn growers’ farms include cover crops, reduced or no-tillage, nutrient management, integrated pest management, and crop rotation. Many of these practices, when combined under the appropriate conditions and settings, are regenerative to soil health as they promote increased organic matter with less soil loss, greater biodiversity, and beneficial nutrient cycling.

Program Partnerships

Staplcotn staunchly supports and lends expertise to programs that allow our members to demonstrate to the supply chain the responsibility exhibited in their cotton production. As a grower-owned marketing cooperative, we are uniquely positioned to connect brands and retailers with growers. We leverage our farmer roots with our staff’s marketing expertise and Staplcotn’s global sales network to bring value all along the supply chain. We work with multiple sustainability and regenerative agricultural programs plus tailor programs to fit specific needs. Staplcotn’s ultimate goal is to improve its members’ marketing opportunities by ensuring integrity, service, transparency, and traceability within the textile value chain.
U.S. Cotton Trust Protocol

U.S. Cotton Trust Protocol

The U.S. Cotton Trust Protocol is the voluntary sustainability program for U.S. cotton growers and traceability platform for all U.S. Cotton. It brings quantifiable and verifiable goals and measurements to responsible cotton production and drives continuous improvement in six key sustainability areas: land use, soil health, water management, greenhouse gas emissions, energy use, and fiber quality. The Trust Protocol underpins and verifies U.S. cotton’s sustainability progress through sophisticated data collection and independent third-party verification.

Staplcotn has been a leading aggregator for the U.S. Cotton Trust Protocol since it was launched in 2020. Our growers have enthusiastically embraced this program. We are proud that a significant portion of our annual cotton production is Trust Protocol verified. At Staplcotn, we welcome sourcing programs focused on Trust Protocol verified bales and we possess the scale necessary to make those programs a reality.

Better Cotton

Better Cotton is the largest cotton sustainability program in the world whose mission is to help cotton communities survive and thrive, while protecting and restoring the environment. The organization consists of industry partners such as farmers, ginners, spinners, suppliers, manufacturers, brand owners, retailers, civil society organizations, donors, and governments.

Staplcotn joined Better Cotton soon after it launched its U.S. based program in 2014. We have been an essential part of Better Cotton’s U.S. presence ever since and appreciate the collaboration we have with the U.S. Better Cotton supply chain. At Staplcotn, we welcome sourcing programs based on Better Cotton mass balance or verified volume and are eager to tailor programs for brands and retailers that meet their Better Cotton sourcing needs.

Staplcotn Regenerative Agriculture

Staplcotn Regenerative Practices Pool

The Staplcotn Regenerative Practices Pool (Staplcotn RPP) is a collection of Staplcotn growers who use certain crop production management practices that are commonly considered regenerative to soil health. To be included in this voluntary pool of inventory, growers must exhibit a combination of practices including cover crops, minimal/no-tillage, nutrient management, and crop rotation while also achieving certain biodiversity and soil carbon outcomes.

The Staplcotn RPP is a new offering for the 2025 crop and is currently in pilot implementation stage. This program is delivered to the marketplace as a Field Partner Program of the U.S. Cotton Trust Protocol.

The Field Partner Program is a framework that enables the U.S. Cotton Trust Protocol to collaborate with merchandisers to deliver traceable “Trust Protocol Regenerative Cotton” as a credible offer for the market. The program leverages existing Trust Protocol infrastructure to support private initiatives offered by Trust Protocol members while providing greater sourcing choices for Trust Protocol brand members. The pilot program is designed to enhance value and benefits for Trust Protocol members while providing Field Partner Programs the framework, verification, and traceability that are foundational pillars of the Trust Protocol.

Staplcotn welcomes supply chain interest in this exciting new regenerative cotton sourcing opportunity.
