Marketing

Staplcotn’s marketing team connects our growers to global markets by promoting and selling cotton to spinning mills, textile companies, brands and retailers and other end users worldwide. We focus on building strong relationships, securing competitive prices, and ensuring reliable service from the field to the retail shelf. Whether a mill’s end product is yarn, fabric, apparel, home furnishings, or even medical/industrial supplies, Staplcotn’s marketing team is able to find them the right mix that will meet their expectations.

Sales Operations

Staplcotn’s Sales Operations department’s stellar performance over the years has been key to our success. Whether a buyer needs five truckloads or 100 containers, Staplcotn’s focus is to deliver the quality that is ordered in the timeframe that is required. Additionally, promptly relaying USDA HVI information, detailed recaps, shipping schedules, or addressing other specific requests is standard operating procedure. We support a full range of sustainability programs and 100% of our bales are traceable back to their U.S. origin through the Permanent Bale Identification (PBI) system.

Cotton Services

Staplcotn’s Cotton Services field staff is essential to both the farmer/members they represent and our marketing and management team who make important decisions on the farmers’ behalf. For the farmers, they are the primary source of trustworthy information regarding market trends, cotton prices, deadlines for contracts, assistance with government loans, and relaying information of the latest sustainability and regenerative trends and programs. Additionally, our cotton specialists are keeping the marketing and management team informed of the number of acres each farmer has planted, predicting the size of the crop and keeping them up to date on how the crops are progressing in order to give them a better hedging position.

Warehousing

Staplcotn operates 14 warehouse facilities in the Mid-South and Southeast and has a licensed capacity of approximately one million bales. The largest of the facilities is located in Rising Sun, Mississippi, just south of Greenwood, and routinely handles over 300,000 bales annually. It is the largest cotton warehouse at a single location in the Mid-South. The most recent additions to the division are strategically located on the Georgia coast, central and coastal North Carolina, and northeastern South Carolina. The placement of these plants has been instrumental not only in cotton storage, but in expediting shipments and, therefore, providing quality service to mill customers, both at home and abroad.

The efficient and professional organization and management of these warehouses are skillfully operated by an excellent team of warehouse supervisors and outstanding office staff. Their skills, knowledge and dedication to the company greatly contribute to Staplcotn’s reputation of exceptional service.

Stapldiscount

In 1923 the members of Staplcotn formed Staple Cotton Discount Corporation (Stapldiscount), to serve the credit requirements of Mid-South agriculture. Since its founding, Stapldiscount has financed millions of acres of Mid-south crops such as cotton, corn, soybeans, rice, and catfish. Additionally, Stapldiscount has provided financing for a broad range of agricultural necessities including farm equipment, land purchases and improvements, cotton gins, warehouses, and flying services. Also a cooperative, Stapldiscount is governed by the same board of directors as Staplcotn. The small but exemplary staff is based out of Staplcotn’s corporate headquarters in Greenwood, MS.
